John Schoeb was searching for a place to relax and to spend time with friends and family, all while enjoying a cold beer with a view.
He teamed up with long time friend and fraternity brother, Andrew Messina, and together they purchased the former Crozet Moose Lodge and opened Pro Re Nata Brewing Co. in 2015. Situated in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Crozet, VA, Pro Re Nata found what it needed: the perfect spot.
Today, along with new partners, PRN has expanded its offerings to include seasonal brews; cider; wine; Hops Kitchen™; live, local music every week; and so much more. All the while . . .
The beer keeps getting better and the view hasn't changed.
Growing up in San Diego, Brad got his start in the craft beer industry by volunteering at a few of the many local breweries.
After moving East, he won 3 Great American Beer Festival medals under the tutelage of Bill Madden and Charlie Buettner at Mad Fox Brewing Company.
As Pro Re Nata's Brewmaster, he has earned the Gold Medal Cup at the Virginia Craft Brewers Guild Award with two of his flagship brews: Old Trail Pale Ale in 2016 and Tapped Out in 2019 • Woooooooo!
Gena and her and her husband, Michael, became partners in Pro Re Nata in January 2019. In June 2020, she assumed the role of General Manager. She is excited to be taking on day to day responsibilities and to play a part in such an amazing venue.
Favorites: Tapped Out after a day of hiking in the Blue Ridge Mountains and a cold Apple A Day cider any day of the week!
Our commitment to making a premium product doesn't stop at the brewing process, we have tapped into renewable energy sources in a productive way!
2016 saw the installation of 2 electric car charging stations and most recently, in 2020, we installed 250 solar panels that provide over 60% of our daily energy needs. We remain committed to doing our part.
With great beer comes great responsibility!
